Ace Handyman Services Portland is seeking a professional Craftsperson to join our tight-knit team! We are Portland's top-rated handyman business, bringing helpful to Portland area homes since 2010. Our mission is to continue the premium customer experience found in Ace Hardware stores to our customers’ homes by helping with their home improvement needs.
 
Job Summary:
As a full-time Craftsperson, you visit Portland area homes, providing quality craftsmanship and friendly customer service. 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Confirm customer appointments and arrive at homes on-time 
  • Estimate scope of work and communicate to customer for approval
  • Provide quality, warrantied craftsmanship 
  • Maintain a clean and tidy workspace
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and collect payment
  • Partner with office team members to provide a superior customer experience 
Basic Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience as a carpenter, handyman, and/or tradesperson
  • Multi-skilled in carpentry, tiling, painting, drywall, and light plumbing and electrical
  • Great attitude with ability to communicate effectively with customers team members
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Comfortable invoicing customers and taking payments
  • Proficient at using email and smart phone to manage work assignments
  • Own a standard set of carpentry tools
  • Ability to pass a drug test and background check
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Customer service experience
  • Project management skills
  • Management and leadership skills
  • Experience as a trainer
  • Estimation skills
  • Home inspection experience
  • Strong documentation skills
Job Type: Monday through Friday with protected days off Saturday and Sunday.

Location: Portland Metro Area

Compensation: $28 - 30 an hour

Ace Handyman Services Craftsmen are empowered and given much more flexibility than others in our industry. For example, they are in charge of their own job sites, and given the freedom to interact directly with Homeowners and Property Managers to suggest work that will improve safety, preserve their largest investment, and truly help them to love their homes and commercial buildings.

Ace Handyman Services’ work itself is often indoors in temperature-controlled environments, and is primarily of lighter-duty than new construction projects.  There are Franchise Owners and Office Managers to assist with the day-to-day operations and administrative side of the business allowing our Craftsmen to focus on the tasks at-hand and provide our customers with professional services that delight our customers.  Our Franchise Owners are successful, business-savvy individuals, who are ethical and treat their Staff like Family. The safety and well-being of TEAM members is a top priority. Many of our Craftsmen are former business owners themselves and after working for an Ace Handyman Services local office, even for a short time, they have no desire to be out on their own or operating their small businesses any longer.
